The balanced force technique involves three or four steps. The first step (after passive insertion of an instrument into the canal) is a passive clockwise rotation of about 90 degrees to engage dentin. In the second step, the instrument is held in the canal with adequate axial force and rotated counterclockwise to break loose the engaged dentin chips from the canal wall; this produce a characteristic clicking sound. Classically, in the third step file is removed with a clockwise rotation to be cleaned.

Thank you Dr.Dohaithem
It is also called Balanced force concept or Roane tech. (Roane ,JOE ,1985)

Thanks dr,Dohaithem& dr.Al-nasser
can I add that
This tech.was developed by Roan
I
t involves the use of instrument with non cutting tip,K-files have pyramidal tips with cutting angles which can be quite aggressive with clockwise rotation.
so,It is recommended to use Flex-R files with this tech. which has safe tip design.

the interesting fact about this technique is that it is composed of two movements.....clockwise which advances the instrument apicaly and an anti-clockwise wish cuts dentine...I have difficulty imagining a file cutting in anti-clockwise rotation because such movement dis-engages the file...one might argue that you should keep firm apical pressure as you do so to have efficient cutting efficiency.....
Well for your information, Roan technique has been criticized by others...the mechanics and physics of it
