Greater bacterial species = Greater pain

Which confirms the statment that endodontic infections are poly microbial in origin and not specific infection. That's way our dis-infection methods are of broad spectrum nature.
Thnaks to this fact, we are not conferented with the difficulty of dealing with specific anti-microbial agents against specific bacterial species which will make its delivery in the dead space of root canal impossible. :)

Thanks 4 your input Dr.Balto
I would like to add that we still dont know yet all these bacteria yet because every now and then a group of researchers comes with a finding of a new bacterial composition in root filled teeth with periradicular lesions.
Recently a couple of articles were posted to our (Article Update) page talking about this topic.

Thanks again for your input

this countinous discovery of bacteria is possible thanks to the relatively recent molecular methods of bacterial identification. Thanks to them; we do not have to rely on bacterial cultures only; but rather can detect in a single pass all bacteria that have certain genomic sequence (ex. PCR and its derivatives, DNA-DNa hybridization..ect).
The interstig thing...re-classification and identification of all bacterial phyla have been re-visited and now...there is a new ERA of discovering new microbes by targeting certain genes and developing specific genomic probes.
The intersting question will be here Dr. Dohaithem; do you think the number of bacteria that is the same since the dawning of time, or there are new and new bacteria that evolve every day because of the environmental and biolgoical factors? I think the latter might be the case

I totally agree, keeping in mind the Virulence and resistance of these new bacteria.

I would be curious to know the evolution of bacteria and how many documented bacteria there are today as compared to back then. In the end, it's not about how many bacteria are present but whether we are able to fight them with current antibiotics.
